Dmitry Medvedev, a close associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has blamed the United States for using nuclear negotiations with Iran as a cover-up for military operations. Medvedev’s criticism came in response to the US attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, which Moscow has denounced as a grave violation of international law.
‘The peacemaker has once again shown his true colours.’ Medvedev stated on his Telegram channel, implying the US. He added, ‘All negotiations with Iran are a cover operation. No one doubted that. No one really wanted to agree on anything.’
Medvedev’s sentiments echo Russia’s official position, which has condemned the US’s attack on Iran as reckless and unlawful. Russian officials have cautioned about severe repercussions if the US continues its aggressive actions towards Iran, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic deescalation.
The relationship between the US and Iran has been tensed, with the US recently attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities. These latest comments from a top Russian official reflect the escalating tension in international relations and the growing concern over potential conflict.
Many countries and international organizations have called for restraint and de-escalation, stressing that any form of violence and aggression contravenes international law and could lead to further destabilization in the region. Among these voices, Russia has been particularly vocal in its criticism of the US actions, insisting on a diplomatic resolution to the issue.
The recent confrontation between the US and Iran and the ensuing political fallout continue to draw international attention and concern, with many waiting anxiously for the next chapter in this ongoing saga of international politics and security.
